On April 18, 2020 at 4pm (Location TBD) ECDC will participate (for the second time) in the National Water Dance. National Water Dance is an artist- driven collective of dancers and educators confronting critical water issues facing the United States. National Water Dance participants create simultaneous, site-specific dance performances with people of all ages and experience around the nation. Artists participating in the National Water Dance believe that our environment is the most pressing issue and needs immediate attention.
Who will we serve and where? Our National Water Dance project services the community in two ways. One, it is a performance opportunity for any body who would like to participate in bringing attention to the fragility of our waters and the severity of climate change through dance. Two, the audience, passersby, attendees, hikers, walkers and Friends of East Rock Park will witness dance as activism through performance. We will bring together a large and diverse community of non-movers and movers alike, professional artists and at least one community partner. We hope to engage people with the help of our influential community leaders who are committed to inclusion and social justice.
